THE IT-CONTRACTING & TAX RECORD
LATEST

A year ago today

It was exactly a year ago today that I emailed the main Agency representative body (FRES now REC) informing them of IR 35 and asking them to make sure their members informed their Contractors. How many did?

Copy email sent to Christine Little

Chief Executive FRES (Agency representative body, now called REC)

19th March 1999

Attn Christine Little

FYI attached is a press release covering this issue (outlined the problems caused by IR 35)

Can you please make sure your members know about the site and that they inform their Contractors.

Many Thanks

Kind regards

Andy White engineerjob.com Ltd

I recall at the time that Agents were up against the DTI with regard to the Agency review and clearly exhibiting signs of a rabbit caught in the headlights of an approaching 40 ton Lorry

My argument at the time was that they should focus on the DTI, but make sure their members informed their Contractors about the problem and also let them know of the existence of engineerjob.com.

How many Contractors found out about IR 35 through their Agent? And when?

As this email shows, the Agents' main representative body (at the time) was briefed in March last year and provided with a means of ensuring their members Customers were kept informed and able to take action accordingly.
