Anne Redston to leave Ernst & Young

Anne Redston, one of the leading experts in freelancer tax issues, is leaving accountants Ernst & Young at the end of April 2005. Anne has been a partner with the firm for nine years, and is a well-known commentator on a wide range of tax issues.

Anne Redston Anne is widely accepted as pre-eminent in her chosen area: the interface between tax and employment law and will also be known to UKTECH members as an occasional contributor to the site.

Aidan O'Carroll, Head of Tax at Ernst and Young, said: "I am sorry to lose Anne, who has made a tremendous contribution to the firm. I know that Anne will continue to be very active in the tax advisory market, including helping us in the future, and I wish her well."

She is consultant editor to Tolley's Yellow Tax Handbook ("The Yellow book") and has written numerous articles for professional journals. Her book, 'IR35, personal service companies' was published in October 2000 with a second edition in June 2002.

For more than a decade Anne has been a leading figure in discussions and negotiations on tax policy with various government departments, including the Treasury, the Revenue and the Department of Trade and Industry.

Anne will continue to be a member of the Council of the Chartered Institute of Taxation and Chair of its Personal Taxes Committee. She is also on the Council and Executive Committee of the Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS).
