Internet shopping is a wonderful thing. Tesco made the headlines yesterday with the news that Tesco Direct, the Internet shopping store, has been a huge success. Tesco is now far ahead as the UK's number one supermarket and trebling the stores which offer Internet shopping will extend the lead.

Internet shopping is a wonderful thing. Tesco made the headlines yesterday with the news that Tesco Direct, the Internet shopping store, has been a huge success. Tesco is now far ahead as the UK's number one supermarket and trebling the stores which offer Internet shopping will extend the lead.

The Tesco chief executive claimed that by retaining profits and investing in the e-commerce sector, Tesco had been able to steal a march on rivals and was now looking to expand further, aiming to increase Internet sales to £300m by the end of the year. The company is looking for IT and fulfilment staff to make the plans happen.

Ironic then that former IT entrepreneurs, who may have closed their businesses due to uncertainty created by IR 35 which prevents them from retaining earnings to invest in company growth, may be among those queuing not at the check-out but at the recruitment office.
