Goodbye Britain Night

Contractors are planning to light up the sky with a message to the Government about the companies who are leaving the UK or being closed down because of IR35.

The anti IR35 site, Fair35, is proposing to stage a Goodbye Britain firework display in London, Birmingham, Manchester or another popular venue with each firework representing the small businesses which have already moved abroad or are contemplating it because of IR35.

They hope this action will make a 'significant and poignant point' - and provide a fun evening for contractors. Anyone who wants to join in or support this event should register details on the site.

This follows news that Germany is looking for 20,000 IT contractors and some recruitment agencies believe that up to half of them will come from the UK - mostly due to the uncertainty and problems created by IR35. Surveys have shown that between 20,000 and 50,000 contractors could move abroad and it would appear that many thousands already have done so.

Members of the Professional Contractors Group now have regular 'get-togethers' in many locations around the world including Amsterdam, New York, Dublin, Frankfurt and Munich.
