Patent Office consultation

Following our patent story UKTECH has become aware of an on-going consultation debate at the Patent Office.

Examining the issues covered in the previous UKTECH article, the consultation is headlined:

Should Patents be Granted for Computer Software or Ways of Doing Business?

According to the report:

"The UK software and computer services market is the second-largest in Europe, worth £21 billion... Whether patents are available for a wider range of software inventions or for business methods could have a fundamental effect on innovation, enterprise and competition, on SMEs and larger companies.

This is a chance for those 'on the frontline' to influence policy. If you are developing software it is worth at least finding out which issues are being addressed. There is nothing better than a patent for protecting your advantage - as James Dyson will testify!
