Poll: How long have you been in or out of contract?

Various surveys have indicated that between a quarter and a half of freelancers could be out of contract. Anecdotal evidence, including posts on UKTECH, show that, for some freelancers, the time out of contract could be years.

UKTECH's latest poll will give an indication of the state of the freelancing market in terms of the length of time highly qualified freelancers are being forced to 'sit on the bench', while claims are made that the country still needs technically skilled and adaptable people.

Last week, I spoke to a freelancer with more than 20 years experience who, having had four days work in the past two years, had decided to leave freelancing and attempt to turn his hobby into a business. His skills and experience in a technical area have been lost to the UK economy for good.
