Publication of Finance Bill
The Finance Bill 2005, which enacts many of the measures set out in the Chancellor's Budget statement, has been published.
'Modern and fair'
Paymaster General Dawn Primarolo said: "The Government is committed to creating a modern and fair tax system which promotes enterprise and productivity, encourages work and savings and raises sufficient revenue to pay for investment in public services. The Finance Bill introduces important measures to promote fairness and tackle tax avoidance whilst keeping pace with the challenges and opportunities presented by the rapidly evolving global economy."
Disclosure rules
The Government has also published draft regulations on the extensions to the direct and indirect tax disclosure rules. It is due to be available on the Inland Revenue and Customs and Excise websites.
