Reader says contract reviews tell contractors nothing they do not know
Opportunities to make money from the misfortune of others.
Reminds me of the lawyers at the MayDay demo trying to seek business from arrested protestors. Or those in the USA that turn up at accidents for same reason.
I don't blame people for doing this, under the culture created by this government the only enterprises that can succeed are those involving lawyers, accountants or politicians.
Legitimate businesses like IT consultancies are seen as easy targets by these 3 'enterprises'.
This is my opinion:
Anyone completing the PCG questionnaire will receive a result as 'borderline'. This encourages both those clearly businesses & deemed employees to seek further clarification by way of one of the Contract Review services.
These services won't tell you anything you don't already know. They also only look at a contract in isolation and simply try to apply a set of standard employment tests to it.
BTW once they have your business they do not respond to emails.
My contract failed unsurprisingly but it seems a tall order to get the Contract Reviewers to consider the wider 'in business on your own account' picture. I am unable to reword my contract. I guess I am resigned to paying this appalling tax.
However, I intend to relocate my business to Asia and sell the services back to UK.
What has happened to the PCG? Are they still going? I'm a member & don't hear anything. It seems we are all on our own again.
