Reminder: Pre Budget Report today
The Chancellor, Alistair Darling, will present the 2008 Pre-Budget Report to the House of Commons today (Monday, November 24) at 3.30pm.
In the past, the Pre-Budget Report (PBR), which trails the Government proposals for the coming 12 months, has contained significant announcements for freelancers and small businesses.
Last year, it signalled the Government's intention to tackle 'income shifting' by family businesses - a measure which was later postponed. And in 2006 it contained the announcement of the Government's clamp-down on Managed Service Companies which resulted in the demise of composites.
This year, there is the possibility that income shifting could make a reappearance and there could be some news following the Government's consultation on travel expenses for umbrella companies.
UKTECH will be providing news and analysis of the issues affecting small businesses from the Pre Budget Report.
