Small business week 2007

Today (October 29) sees the launch of Small Business Week 2007, a week-long campaign dedicated to championing the 4.5 million-plus small enterprises in the UK.

The week, which begins with a launch event at BT Tower, brings together small businesses from across the country, regional influencers and media, will examine the triggers and barriers to long-term success for the small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) community. Small business week 2007 aims to highlight the importance of this sector to the UK economy, share perspectives on the state of the UK's small business sector, and explore what SMEs need in order to meet the challenges they face.

A number of independent, Government and commercial organisations will work together throughout the week to offer advice and support and a platform for small businesses – whether start-ups, home-based businesses or established, growing enterprises.

BT Business are partnering with the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC), Royal Bank of Scotland and EveryWoman to deliver Small Business Week.

A series of events are planned throughout the week including BT podcasts and seminars (Monday); flexible working (Tuesday); Green Day (Wednesday); technology (Thursday) and women in business (Friday).
