The strength of feeling among contractors was never more in evidence than on November 3. The PCG organised a 'green card lobby' at the House of Parliament where more than 700 members turned up to meet their own constituency MPs and explain the impact that IR35 would have on their businesses.

That evening, the Government chose to use its significant Parliamentary majority to reintroduce IR35 into the Welfare Reform Bill, despite the fact that Labour MPs were conspicuous by their absence during a one-sided debate.
