She's a model..and she's looking....IR35able

While the IR35 spotlight has been primarily on IT and engineers, another potential target group emerged - the fashion model.

Conservative MP for Guildford, Nick St. Aubyn, who has been following IR35 closely, tabled two Parliamentary Questions relating to the fashion modelling industry's involvement in IR35.

He asked in what ways the fashion modelling industry will benefit from the changes proposed under IR35 and what was the estimate of the impact of the proposals on the avoidance of tax and national insurance payments in the fashion modelling industry.

Paymaster General, Dawn Primarolo, replied: "All sectors of industry will benefit from the changes we propose. IR35 will ensure that measures designed to support small businesses are properly targeted, and do not go to people who are really the same as employees.

"The legislation will stop the use of personal service companies and similar intermediaries to avoid PAYE tax and National Insurance Contributions in all industries."
