IT specialists recruited from Eastern Europe
Regenesis Business Group has signed an agreement with EjobGlobal.com to provide UK companies with highly skilled English-speaking IT professionals from Eastern European countries.
Pete Bingham of Regenesis Business Group said: "We are offering this because there is an acute shortage of IT professionals. The limited number of people in the UK who are suitably qualified and highly experienced in key IT areas mean they are often beyond the price range of the general market. Affluent companies poach sought-after specialists from smaller organisations and the public sector, neither of which has the resources to keep them. Less affluent companies are finding it hard to retain good IT staff.

The range of skills available encompasses IT managers, programmers, analysts, database specialists, networking and software specialists, and engineers. About 1000 IT professionals are on the database currently.
IDC Research predicts that the UK IT skills shortage is likely to increase by at least 10 per cent each year between 1999 and 2002. In 2002, there is expected to be an explosion in e-commerce and an exponential increase in the number of IT users is generating a comparable demand for people with the skills to support that usage.
The report says that senior 'e-business' professionals are now commanding over £60,000 salaries, up 20 per cent on 1999 figures. The most sought-after skills are Java, object-oriented programming languages like C++, and Unix and Oracle database skills, followed closely by Web design and development.
